The outrageous outfits of pop-duo Outkast singer Andre 3000 won him a “best dressed” status with the Esquire magazine. "He's a complete individual. That's really the point” said fashion director Nick Sullivan in a Tuesday interview to Reuters. "He's probably worn his most outrageous when he's in a video or on stage. What we photographed him in is very much what he wanted to wear," said Sullivan stating that the Esqiure’s list is more about personal style then anything else.
In the magazine’s September issue Andre 3000 is featured sporting a range of stylish and sophisticated looks, such as suede trench coat by Michael Kors, a cashmere sweater by Ralph Lauren Purple Label, and a corduroy trousers by his own fashion label Andre Benjamin. Other best-dressed men on the magazine’s list include Prince Felipe of Spain, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom.
In a magazine interview, the rapper talks about his unusual fashion inspirations such as clothes from the Great Gatsby era, and the “old men” in his neighborhood.
"They're kind of like a uniform, which I've always been into"
"To me, that's real style, anything that feels comfortable and expresses your personality and makes you stand a little taller," says the singer.
