If You Wouldnt Wear Your Dog, Please Dont Wear Any Fur, reads the billboard message emblazoned across a photo of gorgeous Charlize Theron hugging her doggy Tucker. The Oscar-winning actress, who credits her love for animals to her childhood at South African farm, has signed up to appear on billboard ads for non-profit organization PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals), slamming the cruelty of the fur industry.
The 29-year-old, who won the Academy award for a lead role in Monster, hopes to give positive example to her fellow celebrities and convince them not to wear fur. It doesnt make sense to me to let animals suffer for fashion, says Theron.
The animal rights activists publishes annually lists of best- and worse-dressed celebrities based on whether or not they choose to exclude fur from their wardrobes. The organization has fiercely criticized fur-wearing celebrities such as Martha Stewart and Diana Ross.
PETA, has recently assigned a sell out label to fashion icon Cindy Crawford, who signed up to appear in fur giants Blackglama ad campaign later this year, after posing in PETAs ads that read Id rather go naked then wear fur.
