Ex-spice girl Victoria Beckham is now considered among the world’s worst dressed celebrities, her style, encompassing high heels, mini skirts and tight tops deemed too provoking by many British women. Instead, according to the poll conducted by Prima magazine, the British have chosen Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones as their style icon this year.

"No matter where she goes, or what she is doing, she always looks just fantastic. She is also a great role model, sticking to sensible eating plans and exercise to lose her baby weight," says the magazine’s editor Maire Fahey.

"Jordan and Victoria both have quite extreme style, which may alienate some women.

"Posh has also been dressing down a lot more lately and her 'street' style may have earned her the place on the worst-dressed list."

Other celebrities joining Posh on the magazine’s worst-dressed list include Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Cherie Blair.
