George Lucas is planning to re-release all his Star Wars movies in 3-D and is hoping to get the 1-st movie ready by the 30th anniversary of the original trilogy. After that the creator of the most famous epic movie of the century plans to re-release a sequel per year. The premiere is set on year 2007. Lucas gets supported by titans like James Cameron, who is currently working on the 3-D film Battle Angel, Robert Zemeckis (2 3-D films), Robert Rodriguez (The Adventures of Shark Boy & Lava Girl in 3-D), Randal Kleiser and Peter Jackson. They all are investing into the digital projectors, which would allow theatres to show their upcoming movies in 3-D.
"I'm sort of the proverbial digital penny that keeps showing up every other year," Lucas joked. "Each time I am saying, 'Why haven't you got those projectors in the theatres yet?'"
Lucas thinks that it’s time for the 3-D movie making to overcome even the most advanced digital technologies. The technology can help bring old movies back to life and provides the viewers with completely new movie experience. Instead of old red and blue glasses there’ll be absolutely new active glasses, which are set to make a technological breakthrough.
Lucas called it "one of the most exciting developments in cinema in a long, long time."
