Lynn Spears, mother of teen pop icon Britney, has spoken up against media “vultures” in defense of her daughter’s image. In a statement published on pop star’s fan website, Lynn has slammed the biased press that portrays Britney as “trashy.”

"I really feel the need to clarify some of the media's negative onslaught of press that has been everywhere lately,” she says. “I've come across numerous photos where they are trying to depict Britney as, in their words, 'trashy'. For example, the one (photo) where she stepped on her floor length skirt and of course, it pulled down too low in the front. I saw her in this outfit that day and she looked absolutely adorable."

Lynn goes on defending Britney, who can frequently be seen barefoot in her recent photo shoots. She insists, it’s the knee injury that made Britney take off her shoes.

“The doctor's orders are for her to wear Uggs or tennis shoes and it's just too hot for that. Sometimes it just feels good to go barefoot in this heat and give her feet a rest.”

My daughter is not one that is going to give into the pressures of dressing up every single day in order to impress the paparazzi vultures that await her outside,” Lynn says. I don't really care how the media depicts Britney because I know the truth, but I do care about how you, the fans, see her. Britney always lets all of this roll off her back - but I, as her mother, feel the need to set the record straight."
