Now Sean "Puffy" Combs, also known as P. Diddy is going to launch a new womenswear line, emulating his fashion idol Ralph Lauren. P.Daddy has hired Max Wilson, who resigned from Ralph Lauren in February after 11 years working on the women's collections. As Wilson puts it, the new collection will be sexy, stylish and versatile. He promised to reflect the image of P. Diddy whom he saw as “the new elegance”.

For Combs, who uses Lauren’s blueprints for his fashion lines, working alongside a Lauren executive is just another dream come true. Accepting alongside with Lauren his award for Menswear Designer of the Year, Combs wearing a Lauren Purple Label tuxedo, offered an anecdote about his early career ambitions. "I was in the Polo store saving my last bit of money to get me a Polo shirt, Ralph Lauren, and now I'm nominated with him," he said. "This is like the American dream. Ralph, you're still the sexiest man on the planet."

Two weeks ago, Sean John Label presented menswear line with a flashy Manhattan runway show. Sean John Womenswear will make up 40 per cent of Combs' autumn/winter 2005-6 show in February.
