October 25th has witnessed the launch of yet another fashion event, and this time its Australias turn to host the fashionistas. Melbourne currently serves as a venue for Mercedes Australian Fashion Week kicked off by the countries premium designer Colette Dinnigan and attracting hundreds of international press and buyers to the opening ceremony at Crown Towers Hotel.
Melbourne designer Bettina Liano, who, according to the event’s spokesperson, was “using a lot of taffeta and velvet in her creations, with lots of little dresses designed to wear over jeans”.
The total of 170 shows that will happen Monday through Friday. The designers will present collections for winter 2005.
