Today is the birthday of the extravagant French designer Erik Schaix.
Erik Schaix has already been known in the fashion world for 23 years. He started his designer career really early - the designer opened his first Couture boutique in the Majestic Hotel in Cannes when he was just 17.
Thanks to hard work and passion for the haute couture, Erik has founded his own label in Paris ten years later. He creates ready-to-wear, couture and fur collections and also works internationally. The main principles of the costumes he designs is seductiveness and allurement.
He was the first, and so far the only one, to produce lacy lingerie for men for his ready-to-wear collection 2000. The line includes slips, boxers, T-shirts and sleeveless shirts made from stretch lace, some of the items are performed in 'acid' colors. So far the collection is popular mainly among homosexuals, but the designer doesn't lose hope to attract another part of the men population who loves to dress with chick.
The designer's creativity can be prompted by anything: when windstorms of 1999 substantively thined out the park of Versailles, Erik Schaix decided to start a project to turn the fallen trees into the masterpieces. He brought together the sculptors and, after several years of the work, the exhibition, named "Sculptures de Tempête" – Sculptors of the Storm, took place at the Orangerie de Trianon.
This year Erik Schaix designs costumes for the stage, for a famous French theater 'Chance!,' including the much-talked-of musical comedie "Les Musical's."
