The Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami (Florida) celebrated the marriage of music and fashion design. Designers, related to music-industry as well as DJs and WMC who span the tunes for the runaway shows flocked to Maimi for the Funkshion event which showcased March 22 through 26th. The likes of Street Couture, Rebecca Minkoff, Huck-A-Poo, Ryan Kenny and Sean John, presented their trends for 2005.
The Hilfiger show wrapped up the Fashion Week on Saturday. The 150 seats were reserved for the VIP clients and 1-range visitors. Such policy fits the Funksion mission of "moving away from catering simply to the elite and conforming now to the Everyman," as the event spokesman Matt Heien said. The after-parties were held in the nearby Funkshion Restaurant and Lounge, at 1116 Lincoln Road.
The Miami Fashion Week was first held in 2002. The Show was created especially for young and creative designers to present their innovating lifestyle brands. The Fall 2005 collections will co-work with the Winter Music Conference which is about dance music industry and attracts over 60 professionals from different countries. It’s one of the most publicized events in the fashion world.
Last year event was broadcasted on FOX, NBC, E!, Fashion TV, Telemundo, Deco Drive and many, many others. The print media included People magazine, Hollywood Reporter, Brandweek, The Miami Herald, Fashion Week Daily, Nylon Magazine, Lucky magazine, Ocean Drive, The Sun Sentinel and many others publications. Many outlets, both print and broadcast, in fact had multiple features covering all of the shows on a daily basis.
