Great Italian fashion guru Armani visited the exhibition in Tokyo dedicated to his impact on the development of world fashion. Its his first visit in the country of the rising Sun for the last eight years. I love Tokyo. Its a creative and fashionable city, - he said during a news conference at Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.
The exhibition was organized by Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation together with the Mori Art Museum; and it will end on the 9th of June.
Over 400 Armani’s garments will be presented along with sketches and audiovisual presentations. The exhibition was first shown in the New York’s Guggenheim Museum in 2000 and later at the Guggenheim Bilbao in Spain in 2001. Now it’s in the new five-venue tour: Berlin and London in 2003, Rome last year and Tokyo – in 2005. The next stop is planned in Shanghai.
The show that is divided into seven thematic parts (Palette and Structure; Minimalism; Interpretations of the Feminine; East and West; Armani and the Entertainment Industry; Black and White, and Light and Translucency), includes clothes from different periods of Armani’s career – from late 70s untill today.
The designer was also present at the opening of Armani Casa outlet in the Omote Sando district. In addition he won the Designer of the Year Award from the Japan Fashion Editors Club.
The president of Armani division in Japan John Hooks said that brand is planning to focus more on the accessories.
