German supermodel Heidi Klum launched her new line of confections "My Favorite Candies" in New York on Thursday, March 24.
A life-size gummy statue of the Victoria's Secret model dressed in a "gown" made out of candy wrappers was on display in Duane Reade. Klum-branded fat-free gummy candies, previously only sold in Europe, are now available in more than 200 Duane Reade stores, the Big Apple chain of drugstores, in the NYC metropolitan area.
31-year-old Klum, who is expecting a child with her British fiance Seal, elevated her popularity in the US by hosting Bravo's fashion reality show Project Runway and appearing in national ad campaigns for Liz Claiborne.
On Sunday, the supermodel issued a statement saying that she had lost a modelling contract with a German mail-order catalog due to her pregnancy. According to smh.com.au, Otto Versand, one of the world's largest mail-order company that sells merchandise in about 20 countries, had cancelled Klum's contract for the next season.
