Italian Eyes – Fashion photography from 1951 to today is the first attempt to create an organized archive of the Italian fashion photography, presented by Italian art foundation Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery.
The project, Lo Sguardo Italiano, guided by contemporary art and fashion experts, will feature the Italian artists who brought the history of fashion photography into the limelight as well as display the Italian style beyond fashion, showcasing a collection of images that illustrates the evolution of fashion influenced by social changes of post-World War II period, reports Artdaily.com.
Lo Sguardo Italiano is an exhibit and a book that present photographs, fashion reports in Italian and foreign magazines and advertising campaigns, collected in different cities and places and sorted by theme. The project is meant to analyze evolution of this form of art in Italy from its official “birth” to present.
The book will be presented in Rome on 16 March 2005, at the MAXXI (Museo delle Arti del XXI secolo - the Museum of XXI Century Arts) on the occasion of the opening of the exhibit, which will embody the images arranged in drawers, racks, shelves and videos by theme, date, size and author.
