23-year-old former beauty queen Krishna Somani, one of India`s top cover girls and catwalk models is going to Malaysia for the upcoming Simply Haute Fashion Gala Dinner later this month. The two events are part of the KL Fashion Week 2004, themed Stylish Asia, organized by The Star and presented by L'Oreal.
Somani`s debut at India`s prestigious beauty contest Miss Femina India in 2001, was where she first caught the eye of India`s leading designers such as Satya Paul, Ritu Kumar, Suneet Verma, Tarun Tahiliani, Rina Dhaka, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Aparna Chandra.
Her success was overshadowed by her family`s initial mistrust for the industry, as they though it would corrupt her. Somani says, their blessing mattered a lot to her, and she`s happy that her family became supportive of her choice.
Being a household name made Krishna Somani a dream actress for film producers and directors. Krishna, however, is not anxious to land a role, and opts to stay loyal to the catwalk – her lasting passion.
