For many fashion insiders, Frederique epitomizes sophistication, poise and dignity.
The dawn of her modeling career can be traced back to the prestigious Elite Look of the Year contest, where she won the first prize. She then went on to the international competition in Mauritius and won there as well. Her win landed her a contract with Elite Model Management. Frederique opted to finish her studies in economics and languages in her native Holland, instead of heading for runways and magazine covers right away.
After she has graduated at the age of 18, she moved to New York, and started modeling, appearing at Cosmopolitan covers, and featured in such top magazines as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, and Madamoiselle.
The campaign that skyrocketed Frederique to the top of the modeling world, was
Revlon's Most Unforgettable Women in the World, which was shot by photographer Richard Avedon, and the Guess? campaign, which soon followed. But it is for her continuing affiliation with Victoria's Secret that she has received the most recognition.
Frederique has always been a hard worker and has set for herself higher goals other then a mere modeling success.
“I always had a business sense in me”, she says. “I remember doing the often odd jobs from washing cars to working in a restaurant, or selling my mother's library on the street, you know, to make money.”
Over the years she has been able to parlay her supermodel fame into several second careers in business and acting. Her own line of lingerie has brought her riches beyond those of a typical model. She is an intelligent, educated, articulate woman, and commands great respect in the fashion industry.
When she is not busy with her projects she likes to read, visit art galleries, ski, mountainclimb, windsurf and go to the movies.
