The Canadian-born supermodel is coming back home for the 18th annual Fashion Cares AIDS benefit dinner, runway show and party on May 29 introduced by MAC cosmetics (a Canadian company with offices in New York). The reception will feature Simone Denny (singer of Queer Eye’s “All Things” theme), Kristine W (reigning queen of Billboard’s dance charts), Lena Love, DJ The Lady Bunny, DJ Escape and DJ Matt C, two former million-dollar winners of TV's Survivor, and Evangelista as master of ceremonies.
"I do charity work all over the world, so it's about time I came back to be part of something in Canada," the 39-year-old fashion icon told the Canadian Press.
Evangelista is a spokesmodel for MAC cosmetics Viva Glam V Lipstick with all the proceeds from sales donated for the MAC AIDS fund. The supermodel has personal reasons to feel excited about raising money for the AIDS victims: her Paris booking agent died of the disease at the start of her modeling career. “Since then, I've lost colleagues in the business, friends outside of the business. Everyone I know has been touched by (AIDS)," she said. "It affects all of us."
The fashion queen says she`s happy the event will be taking place in Toronto, because it`s so close to her home town St. Catharine`s, which she plans to visit during her long-awaited stay.
