As it appears, spring is always about bright colours and floral prints. Trendy women this spring and summer will be unapologetically frilly and fun. Their bold femininity will embrace what sophisticates have always warned was superfluous: ruffles, flowers and grandmothers big broach.

Soft, flowing silhouettes are a primary goal this spring. Anything that ripples, swishes or sways qualifies. Think Stella McCartney, Nina Ricci, Diane von Furstenburg. Banana Republic is offering silky, print skirts that fall below the knee and dance as you walk.

This spring will be witnessing the comeback of citrus oranges and greens. The ever present pink gets ubiquitous to a fault.

Dolce & Gabbanas signature busy prints have plenty of fat flowers this time around. Versace created cropped floral pants, all yellow, pink and light blue.

The seasonal mini-trends are: Polka dots, paradoxical summertime tweeds, vertical stripes and variations on Burberry's theme. And circle skirts have made a comeback as well. Meanwhile, a number of designers -- Ralph Lauren, Nicole Miller and Narciso Rodriguez -- continue to play with the sporty look.
