Models 1 was founded in 1968, with just three models on their books. Now, some 33 years later, the Company has grown to become the largest and most successful agency in Europe and one of the top and most respected agencies in the world.
The Company developed its reputation by discovering and helping to build the careers of girls and boys who have achieved enormous success and international fame. Top models, like Yasmin Le Bon, Jerry Hall, Greta Scaatchi, Twiggy, Karen Elson, Gerard Smith, Charley Speed and Giles Curties all began with Models 1.
Models 1 operates through four divisions: Women, Men, New Faces and Management ; the latter being responsible for both celebrities, like Ali MacGraw, Patsy Kensit, Faye Dunaway and Christopher Lee, and also the careers of more established and mature models.
The New Faces division, is responsible for finding new models, training them and helping them to get their careers off to the best possible start.
Models 1 has a very clear and responsible attitude to its models, being determined to consider their longer term careers with a view to ensuring that they do not run before they can walk. We are committed to long-term relationships with both our models and clients alike. This is helped considerably by the fact that all our senior bookers have been with the Company for a good many years.
In January 1999, the founders of the Company decided they wished to have more time to themselves and so decided to retire. Symptomatic of the spirit of the business they had developed, they elected to sell the Company to their two head bookers, Karen Diamond and Kathy Pryer, each heading up the respective Women’s and Men’s divisions.
Karen and Kathy are determined to maintain their direct involvement in the day to day business of the agency, which involves a close working relationship with staff, models and clients alike. To ensure that the business is efficiently managed, they invited John Horner, with 30 years experience in the advertising and marketing industries, to join the Company in the management buyout, as Managing Director.
Models 1 will maintain its outstanding commitment to professionalism in every aspect of its business and, above all, the discovery, nurturing and establishment of the best models in the world.
