Toronto Fashion Week, brought by Fashion Design Council Of Canada, a national organization dedicated to branding fashion, and sponsored by L’Oreal Paris and a variety of prestigious organizations is now at its close.
The event features a spectrum of Canadian and international designers, a series of collaboration shows and an unprecedented visit, retrospective runway show and "master class" by Italian design superstar Missoni.
Missoni, who heads up the 50-year-old Italian label says he is honoured to represent Italian fashion in Toronto and hopes to take some Canadian designers to the Milan show next time.
New fashion names featured during the course of TFW were Montreal's Denis Gagnon, who was crowned womenswear and designer of the year at the gala opening's award ceremony, Phillippe Dubuc, who won the menswear award, and Arthur Mendonca, who took home the new designer award along with a $2,000 prize.
