Vivienne Westwood, 'Britains most consistently original,
outrageous and controversial designer', launched a major retrospective of her work today (April 1st) at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The exhibition features over 150 of her designs that she has created throughout her 35-year career.
The displayed items include the sky-high platform shoes which caused Naomi Campbell to take a tumble on the catwalk in 1993. The designer, dubbed the inventor of the punk style, said she was extremely delighted to share her archives and ideas from over 30 years of her work.
"We have always dreamed of doing a Vivienne Westwood Show. This is a celebration of the museum's commitment to fashion and also Vivienne's wonderful career." – museums curator Claire Wilcox said.
