Rap star Jay-Z has teamed up with Audemars Piguet to release a limited line of luxury watches. The launch signifies commemoration of the rapper's 10th anniversary in the music business.
The limited edition of only 100 watches - 50 in stainless steel, 30 in rose gold and 20 in platinum - will be available at the Swiss watchmaker's stores, priced between between $24,000 and $100,000. Each watch will come with a specially engraved iPod with uploaded Jay-Z's albums.
"I chose to partner with Audemars Piquet based on the quality and integrity of the brand. It's a perfect marriage," Jay-Z said in a statement.
The 35-year-old singer, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been lately a trendsetter of high fashion, rapping: “I don't wear jerseys, I'm 30-plus. Give me a crisp pair of jeans ..."
"I've always been a big fan of Audemars Piguet," he told the New York Post. "I didn't pitch him on it. It was something he came to me with," the rapper said of the watchmaker's North American President Francois-Henry Bennahmias.
