Eight months after the wedding ceremony, Jennifer Lopez has publicly confirmed for the first time that she and salsa singer Marc Anthony are, indeed, husband and wife.
"Yes, we're married," the pop diva told People magazine. "I mean, come on, everyone knows. It's not a secret."
The couple, who married last June at Lopez’ Beverly Hills home, performed a duet in Spanish at the Grammy Awards on February 13 before the Latina singer and actress announced her illness and cancellation of her promotional visits in Europe. Although Lopez justified it by swollen glands and a sore throat, the speculations were that she is pregnant. However, the 34-year-old says she's "not on a timetable" to have a baby, though she hopes to become a mother someday.
"Family is something that has always been really important to me," she said. "One healthy baby would be enough for me."
Anthony, 36, already has two sons, of 17 months and of 4 years, and an 11-year-old daughter from previous relationships, who often visit their father and Jennifer at the spouses' Long Island residence.
Lopez said she had entered "phase two" of her life, which, in contrast to her "Bennifer" days with former fiancé Ben Affleck, was "a little bit suburban" and "more normal than it's ever been".
"I take responsibility for the fact that I didn't make adjustments," she said, according to AP. "Now I'm a little more careful. I travel in a certain way. I leave at a certain time. I learned.
"I don't take phone calls after a certain time now. Before, people could call me at two or three in the morning and I didn't care. But it's different now."
