The blue-and-white gingham dress worn by Judy Garland for the movie Wizard of Oz was presented in the auction house Bonhams & Butterfields and is scheduled for an auction in London.

The outfit donned by the actress who played Dorothy Gale in 1939 is also to be shown in LA prior to its sale on April 26. According to a rep from Bonhams, the Kansas farmgirl dress, custom-made for Garland who was 17 when the iconic film debuted, is expected to fetch from $50,000 to $70,000.

The garment has a 69-cm waist and the name of Judy on an inside hem label. The previous owner wasn’t identified.

"This dress represents the quintessential magic of childhood in the most beloved film of the 20th century," said Jon Baddeley, group head of Bonhams collectors' department, according to CBS.

"It has become a cherished memory for millions of fans worldwide and was worn by one of the most talented and respected stars in Hollywood."

Other belongings of famous rock, pop and film celebs displayed at the auction included John Lennon's handwritten lyrics for Revolution and a jacket worn by Mick Jagger.
