An exhibition of Kylie Minogues stage attire opened at the Art Center in the singers home city of Melbourne. The exposition, called Kylie, features most that 300 of her more recognizable costumes on special mini-mannequins, reports News Interactive.
Its been surprisingly emotional, said the 36-year-old star.
I feel really proud. In a way its like sending the kids away: ’OK, go off, look after yourself. Theyre being put out to pasture, which is better than being shoved in a box somewhere.
Every item in the show had to be valued for insurance purposes. Minogues legendary gold hotpants came out top of the list, being insured for $1.9 million.
The insurance company quoted GBP1 million for her gold hotpants. The high figure reflects the danger of them being nicked, said an exhibition insider, as reports Yahoo! Australia & NZ.
They are one of the most famous items of pop memorabilia in the world, are impossible to replace and represent a slice of pop history from Australias biggest export. A pop collector or Kylie fan would love to own them.
The singers stylist William Baker payed almost nothing for the hotpants which he picked up at a London market for Kylie to wear in the video for her comeback single Spinning Around in 2000.
In addition to clothing and memorabilia, from awards to photos and tour passes, theres also video footage spanning Minogues entire career.
