Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue has been confirmed as the headline star of the upcoming Glastonbury rock festival, alongside White Straps and New Order. Moreover, the 36-year-old singer will be closing the festival, which is a great honor considering the fact that usually only old timers and rock legends get to sing at the very end.
Kylie’s appearance will be a part of her global Showgirl Greatest Hits Tour, which begins in March. The show, featuring Minogue’s hits from 1980s to the present, is expected to be staged in glamorous “Art Deco” style.
It may be hard to please the crowd of experienced rockers, but it’s worth trying. She won’t be the first pop artist to sing on Glasto though – in 1998 Robbie Williams won the crowd despite all initial doubts about his presence. The Festival begins on the 24th of June 2005 and will last for two days.
Meanwhile, the star’s sexy beau, French actor Olivier Martinez, is trying to fill up the absence of his busy girlfriend by seeing other women in Hollywood.
According to Mirror.co.uk, the 38-year-old heartthrob has been spotted dining with George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend Celine Balitran and also pictured sharing a kiss with his S.W.A.T. co-star Michelle Rodriguez as he left Hollywood's exclusive Chateau Marmont hotel on Tuesday. "Can't a girl spend some time with her man alone?" was the 25-year-old actress’ reaction to waiting photographers. It is the second time Martinez is reportedly linked with Rodriguez since last August, when the couple was allegedly enjoying themselves on P Diddy’s yacht in St Tropez.
However, a source close to Kylie insists that the pair, who got together in spring of 2003, is happy, and that “Olivier and Michelle are great friends, but that's all”.
"Things couldn't be better between them," confirmed Minogue’s spokesperson.
