Model and actress Lisa B, who is expecting her first child next month, celebrated her forthcoming motherhood with a bunch of friends, including British fashion designer Amanda Wakeley and Tatler magazine last week. Having been selected as the face of Blossom Mother and Child for the duration of her pregnancy, Lisa donned a turquoise floral print dress from the autumn/winter 2005-6 collection for the glamorous baby shower.
Lisa married Anton Bilton, a property developer and one of the richest men in UK, last September and currently lives in 32-bedroom mansion Tyringham Hall, built by Sir John Soane in 1794.
Aside from modeling and acting, Lisa, who grew up in Brooklyn, is also working on a book, which she describes as a "modern girl's guide to attaining an aspirational lifestyle, from someone who didn't have a privileged background but has learnt how to use the opportunities which come your way."
The young beauty claims that millionaire life didn’t change her greatly. She does not consider herself a spendthrift and loves a bargain.
"I'm the same with clothes. I don't buy winter coats or trouser suits in the high street, but for any fad of the moment I go straight to Topshop. I don't have to spend a lot of money to feel I'm wearing something beautiful,"she told Telegraph.co.uk
Most of her pregnancy clothes, Lisa, actually, bought at H&M and Topshop, which now has a maternity collection. "In the first few months, I could fit into all those Diane Von Furstenberg-style wrap dresses. Plus, I've always saved things and I found all my old micro-minis - I can't believe I used to wear them so short - now work great as tunics over my maternity jeans from Topshop. The other great thing is all the Empire line tops and dresses around, perfect for anyone who is having a baby."
Unlike other celebrities, Lisa B is not planning to follow the steps of the likes of Victoria Beckham or Donna Air and torture her body with diets and exercises to get back in shape after giving birth.
"Why kill yourself?" she asks. "What on earth could they be doing, apart from enjoying being a mother? I can't imagine I'd go on a diet. I love food too much and I don't like exercising as it is. I think I've put on about 11 kilos, maybe a little more. My hips are certainly a little bigger and so is my face. But I quite like having the extra on my face; it keeps you looking younger."
