Catwalk queen Naomi Campbell was robbed of £25,000 ($45,700) of jewelry and clothes in Cannes, where she arrived to celebrate her 35th birthday and attend the film festival. The thief sneaked on board the yacht and pretended to be part of Campbell’s entourage.
The stolen items were to be sold on the auction for the Nelson Mandela Foundation to help poor children in South Africa. The supermodel is the charity’s ambassador since 1997. Accompanied by billionaire on-again lover, Formula One boss Flavio Britore, Campbell didn't give way to despair and called her favourite designers and stylists for help. David Brown, Naomi’s agent said, according to Mirror.co.uk: "We rang designers for outfits and her good friends Dolce and Gabbana came to the rescue."
But misfortunes never come alone. Naomi also had problems with her stylist who came straight from London to take care of the capricious panther. The model's birthday dress she was to wear for lunch at an exclusive VIP club didn’t fit her, no matter how much the stylists tried to save the situation. At the end he cried and ran off with the outfit. Naomi had no other choice than to show up at the event, attended by race ace Jenson Button and male model Tyson Beckford, in a last-minute garment from Fendi.
Campbell has recently filed a lawsuit against the Daily Mirror over coverage of her treatment at Narcotics Anonymous. The tabloid has petitioned the House of Lords to review the legal bill of £594,000 ($1,086,000), which has been condemned as a restriction on freedom of speech, reports Press Gazette.
