Supermodel Naomi Campbell proved she can dance just as well as strut catwalks. The British supermodel, dressed in a blue tasseled bikini with precious stones and a massive crown of long plumes, joined dancers from the Portela Samba School at the Rio Carnival last weekend.
Along with hundreds of nearly-nude samba performers, 37-year-old Naomi was moving to the tune "Eight Ways to Change the World" atop a float of Portela, sponsored by the UN to promote its Millennium Campaign against poverty. "I don't know how to samba. I'm very nervous," Campbell told AFP reporters before entering the Sambadrome. Portela is one of the most famous of Rio's 14 samba schools that participated in the parade and competed for the title of Carnival champion.
Meanwhile, another catwalk queen Heidi Klum was enjoying festivities in a different part of the globe. Dressed as a pair of dragons, with green make-up and matching hooded suits, and then as guests of honor in traditional outfits, Heidi and her singer fiancé Seal appeared at the 2005 Rose Course Carnival in Klum’s hometown Bergisch Gladbach, Germany on Sunday.
