It's official: tens of millions still feel thrilled by Xena, this strongly appealing, extremely sexy (for sure, not only for lesbians) and powerful figure. As a man of old-fashioned traditional orientation, I would add Xena's inseparable and constant friend Gabriela, this seemingly tiny but courageous and determined girl, Princes Warrior's true and faithful tender lover, unforgettable for her profoundly feminine look and outfit. Xena's fashion sense has had more than a passing impact on current styles, notes Maria Erb. Madonna's bullet bra clearly has its roots in Xena's brazen breast plates. And that dark mane with the heavy bangs... Ann Wilson of Heart, Roseanne Barr, and Elvira Mistress of the Dark are definitely taking the cues for their coifs from the Warrior Princess, Maria Erb assumes.

Again, as a non-gay and non-lesbian, I would add that strangely Gabriella goes almost forgotten here, much shadowed by her Mistress Xena. But who would Xena be without Gabriella? And what about Gabriella's profoundly feminine outfits (though still designed for battle -- what a stylish coincidence by itself)?! Do they resemble you some of today's office female clothes and shoes? And evening dressing?

It's a really very surprising fact: these influences have never been given proper consideration. Actually it has been studied, but by far not profoundly enough. I am aware of some studies, mainly  by lesbians and for lesbians, but I'm quite sure that this phenomenon deserves much more careful research.
