Simonetta Ciampi, Design Director of Leather goods at Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, who helped advance the French company to the leather goods market with her Mombasa bag, has left the fashion house.
Having joined Gucci Group during Tom Ford's era in July of 2001, after resigning from her accessories designer position at Escada, Ciampi decided she no longer wanted to stay at the luxury goods giant as her contract expired at the end of last month.
According to WWD, a spokesperson for Gucci's parent group PPR, a successor to Ciampi, who has also worked with Prada and Loewe, is yet to be named.
