The biggest talent search and the most anticipated TV show in America finally announced the final dozen of rivals. The fourth "American Idol" has finally said goodbye to the last four semi-finalists, giving the start to the hottest part of the show, which is reaching up to 30 million viewers an episode. Hold on, the American Idol is coming!
While judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell narrowed the field of aspiring warbling stars, the viewers got to pick the finalist. Each week the viewers voted to decide which two would leave the ranks of competitors in order to get closer to the final winner who, in addition to stupendous fame, will obtain a new car, a trip for two to the "Idol" finale in Los Angeles in May and a cameo in a music video featuring the fourth season finalists.
So far men and women had been competing separately, but cross-gender competition will begin Tuesday, when the program returns to twice-weekly airings. The finale is scheduled for May 24-25.
Female finalists of this year are Lindsey Cardinale of Ponchatoula, La.; Mikalah Gordon of Las Vegas; Vonzell Solomon of Ft. Myers, Fla.; Carrie Underwood of Checotah, Okla.; Jessica Sierra of Tampa, Fla.; and Nadia Turner of Miami, billboard.com reports.
The male rivals are Bo Bice of Helena, Ala.; Ukrainian-born Anthony Fedorov of Trevose, Pa.; Constantine Maroulis of New York; Anwar Robinson of East Orange, N.J.; Scott Savol of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and Mario Vazquez of New York.
