The American Idol favourite Mario Vasquez left the show on Sunday leaving his fans wondering what were those personal reasons which made the young and handsome singer to refuse the crown. The 27-year-old R&B singer appeared on the CBS Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday with his list of ten reasons.
Vasquez took part in Letterman's signature "Top Ten" segment – a funny countdown of one-line answers to a selected topic in the news. The task was to reveal the “reasons I quit 'American Idol,”" and the following answers were given:
No. 10: "Well, for starters, I was really, really drunk.
No. 9: "I've got my eye on the ultimate prize: 'Belgium Idol"'
No. 8: "Yeah, my career's over, but I just saved a bundle on my car insurance."
No. 7: "After seeing Michael Jackson, maybe I don't want to be a pop star."
No. 6: "Ryan Seacrest (the host of 'American Idol') is all hands."
No. 5: "I started liking when Ryan Seacrest was all hands."
No. 4. "Screw it -- I'm quitting this, too."
The Bronx-born star stopped after the number 4 and quit the show, just like he quit the American Idol. «Personl reasons» is as open as Vasquez gets in revealing the reasons for his leaving. As for his health – he is well, and as for his family – his mother was surprised when reporters began calling her for further information.
The producers of the TV talent search had a conversation with Vasquez where they found out the real reason of his dropout, but they keep their mouthes shut tight.
