Miss Zeeland, Miranda Slabber, was selected as Miss Netherlands 2004 in a gala event held in Turkey on October 9. 24-year-old winner will now represent the Netherlands at the Miss World pageant, which will take place in December in China. The jury described Slabber as “a radiating woman”, though several jury members expressed doubts whether she had sufficient international charisma, reported De Telegraaf.

At the finals contestants presented themselves in a variety of clothing like formal wear, bikinis and costumes with masks.

Crowned Slabber intends to play an important role for the Stichting Doe een Wens (Make a Wish Foundation), that works to make wishes of sick children come true.

The Miss Netherlands contest has been held since 1989, inviting participants only of ages 17 to 25.
