Miss Zeeland, Miranda Slabber, was selected as Miss Netherlands 2004 in a gala event held in Turkey on October 9. 24-year-old winner will now represent the Netherlands at the Miss World pageant, which will take place in December in China. The jury described Slabber as a radiating woman, though several jury members expressed doubts whether she had sufficient international charisma, reported De Telegraaf.
At the finals contestants presented themselves in a variety of clothing like formal wear, bikinis and costumes with masks.
Crowned Slabber intends to play an important role for the Stichting Doe een Wens (Make a Wish Foundation), that works to make wishes of sick children come true.
The Miss Netherlands contest has been held since 1989, inviting participants only of ages 17 to 25.
