Despite of no evident lack of gorgeous, confident and style-conscious role models, many British singletons consider self-doubting, calorie-counting Bridget Jones their symbolic icon. Speaking at the premiere of second Bridget Jones movie, The Edge of Reason, Renee Zellweger said that taking a role of 30-something Bridget was a privilege.

“People have responded to Bridget with a lot of affection.

“I initially had fears about doing a sequel, - revealed the actress. “I didn’t want to do something that wasn’t substantial, but it was great.”

The original movie Bridget Jones Diary has reached immense popularity, its revenues reaching more than $280 millions worldwide. In sequel Zelleweger’s heroine finally finds what she has been dreaming of – a flawless and adoring boyfriend. As the story unfolds, Bridget leans to deal with the new fears and insecurities that her initially blissful romance brings.

The movie that will be released in UK November 12, has already received controversial reviews. While some criticize it for having “too many toe-curling scenes,” Sharon Hendry, The Sun newspaper’s Woman Editor calls her “a mirror image of how many single British women see themselves.”
