South-African-born model-turned-actress Charlize Theron, will be the face of South African Fashion Week 2004. Sponsored by L’Oreal Paris, an event will take place from July 29 to August 1 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg and will feature more than 30 collections of both up-and-coming and established designers.
The event will include a program of seminars by top speakers from the international and local fashion world, as well as workshops to facilitate contact between local designers and the major South African chain stores, while a trade exhibition will allow a closer look at garments and the requisite mingling.
The native of Soth-African city Benoni, the Oscar-winner Charlize Theron is one of L’Oreals international ambassadors along with celebrities like Catherine Deneuve, Milla Jovovich, Beyonce Knowles and Andie MacDowell, among others. Charlize proved that she's more than a beautiful face when she took home the Best Actress Golden Globe (in a Drama) and Oscar for her portrayal of real-life man killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 biopic Monster.
