The white-haired couturier Karl Lagerfeld has recently sold his company to Tommy Hilfiger last December, including Lagerfeld Gallery, an upscale womens line, and Lagerfeld, a licensed mens wear line. Now Lagerfeld wants to appear on the silver screen, joining Hilfiger in his forthcoming reality show The Cut.
Hilfiger is the recipient of many fashion industry awards, including “Designer of the Year” by Parsons School of Design and GQ, “Menswear Designer of the Year” by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, is now producing a reality TV series called The Cut, which will be produced by Lions Gate Television in association with Pilgrim Films and Television.
The TV show with Tommy Hilfiger as the host, will feature 16 aspiring designers competing against each other in challenges that test their talent, business acumen and sales and marketing expertise, among others, according to www.tommy.com.
Karl Lagerfeld is also launching his new book, called The Karl Lagerfeld Diet, revealing the secret of his miracle weight loss, which is ready to release next month, May 5.
The next book to appear this summer will be with the photos of Danish supermodel Helena Christensen, who has already shot the ad campaign for famous Danish beer company Carlsberg.
"It's not a fashion book," he said, cited by the British Vogue. "Her style of photography is more intimate."
