Sad as it is, designer Karl Lagerfeld will never work with H&M again, reports the German Stern magazine. Despite the huge success that his high street collection had had with the public, the German designer arrived at a decision to terminate his cooperation with the Swedish clothing retailer, accusing its management of snobbery for producing minimal numbers of his designs. He said, the fact that his collection sold out in a matter of hours reduced his effort to make designer clothes available to those who cannot afford designer clothes from renowned fashion houses.
It was great to work with the people at H&M as we all helped each other to make it a success, he told Stern. But the incomprehensible decisions of the management in Stockholm have taken away any desire to do it again. They did not make the clothes in sufficient quantities. I find it embarrassing that H&M let down so many people⦠I dont think that is very kind, especially for people in small towns and countries in Eastern Europe. It is snobbery created by anti-snobbery.
Lagerfeld was also disappointed by H&Ms decision to produce clothes of larger sizes than he originally intended. The fashion emperor, who lost 42 kilos 2 years ago, says what he designed was fashion for slender and slim people.
Despite the original intention to keep the collection cheap and affordable, the Lagerfeld for H&M designs are already being overprized and sold on internet auctions.
