Madonna, who decided to expose he ugly side of fashion, has bought the film rights to Michael Gross` controversial bestseller “The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women,” which she will produce under her own production company Maverick Films. According to the The Daily Express, the company is already casting models to play Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford. The book also refers to such modeling legends as Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, and Lauren Hutton.

Michael Gross has interviewed modeling's pioneers, survivors, and hangers-on, telling the story of the greats: Lisa Fonssagrives, Anita Colby, Candy Jones, Dorian Leigh and her sister Suzy Parker, Veruschka, Janice Dickinson and Patti Hansen and more. The book exposes the the day-to-day business of beautiful young women, sex and drugs.

The screenplay has been written by David Brendel and the film is tentatively being given a release date of next year.
