A new name appeared among singing designers – this time its Mandy Moore. Nelly, the Olsen Twins and Jennifer Lopez are already producing clothes under their names. But actually with the exception of P. Daddys Sean John clothing line, the singers themselves do not design most of these lines. The clothes are made by professional designers, the stars just choose what they like and what they dont like.
A new line and label, called Mblem, is connected with the star’s problem with her height.
"I'm a tall girl (5-foot-10), so I'm always searching for the perfect jeans and T-shirt..." Moore told The Associated Press in a phone interview. “I find that a lot of the popular T-shirts are too short."
Mblem shirts, which are priced at about $50, are done in some of Moore's favourite colour combinations, including orange and brown, and pink and brown, and printed with lyrics to some of her favourite classic rock songs.
The reason for those entertainers to enter fashion industry is that it is very profitable. Most of people would like to buy a T-shirt with the name of celebrity instead of the cheaper one, even if they have to pay the extra price for the name. Fashion design is also more stable than selling CD’s, due to Internet piracy.
