The Desperate Housewives’ star Marcia Cross had to laugh off the rumors that she is gay. The 42-year-old actress, who plays Bree Van Der Kamp in the hit Channel 4 show doesn’t know the source of these rumors, and doesn’t understand why they were so popular that they ran all over the planet.

The "Desperate Housewives' star said she wasn't a lesbian after "The View' co-host Barbara Walters questioned her Wednesday on her sexuality.

"I'm not," said Cross.

"I just assumed this is what comes of being 42 and single," the Associated Press quotes her as saying.

"I don't know if they just needed to find a reason why I wasn't married."

"I do think it was really weird, though, that there was all this curiosity about something, like that -- about sexuality," she is reported as adding.

Cross' publicist Heidi Lopata Slan told US magazine The Advocate that the rumors are "completely untrue".

"She is, however, very supportive of the gay and lesbian community," the spokesperson added.
