Model and actress Eva Mendes, who will appear in a next Columbia Pictures flick Hitch, will star opposite Nicholas Cage in a movie adaptation of a marvel Comic book Ghost Rider. Mendes will play a love interest of a motorcycle stuntman (portrayed by Cage), who agrees to lend his body to a vengeful spirit, to protect his true love (Mendes). As a result, Cages character gets turned into a motorcycle-riding demon.
The project, also produced by Columbia Pictures, will be directed by Mark Steven Johnson. Mendes, who has also appeared in Training Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Out of Time, broke into the world of showbiz due to her amateur photos, placed in a neighbor’s portfolio. The actress and model is currently working on winter promotions with Gap and hold a contract with Revlon to advertise their new line of cosmetics.
Mendes and Cage will be joined on the set of Ghost Rider by Jon Voight and Wes Bentley. The filming starts in Australia and will hit the screens in 2006.
