Oceans Eleven sequel Ocean Twelve, featuring the glamorous trio George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon, dominated the weekend box office, pulling as much as $40.9 million from 3,290 theaters across the United States. The sequel, driven by immense star power of Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia and Catherine-Zeta Jones, who also joined the cast, stole the first place from National Treasure and has beaten the runner up vampire thriller Blade: Trinity that drew $16.1-million revenue.
Moviegoers like their movie stars all in one place, Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations told AP. Its like one-stop shopping for all the top stars in Hollywood.
According to Warner Bros. head of distribution Dan Fellmanm, producer Jerry Weintraub is already planning a second Ocean sequel. The original movie Oceans Eleven stole $38.1 million during the opening weekend of Oceans Eleven as it premiered three years ago.
