Following the news of Mary-Kate Olsen being diagnosed with anorexia, the “Got Milk?” ads that featured the twins wearing “milk moustaches” have been withdrawn. The director of the Milk Processor Education Program Hugh Williams told the Associated Press that the ads have been retracted out of "sensitivity to their current situation."
The milk processors of America can’t obviously ignore the “sensitivity” factor, given what Mary-Kate Olsen said in an official statement at the launch of the advertising campaign.
"We wanted to appear in this ad because we love the campaign and we want to help make sure our fans are healthy like us," read the statement of a teen actress diagnosed with the eating disorder in June.
Mary-Kate Olsen is currently undergoing a medical treatment. The ad may still run in the future, Williams told the Associated Press.
