While church leaders dispute over controversial waxwork nativity scene portraying people of questionable moral standing David and Victoria Beckham as Joseph and Virgin Mary, the Beckhams are adhering to Church rituals. Thursday, according to SLAM, the couple were hosting a lavish party for the christening of their sons Brooklyn and Romeo. The magazine also claims to be in possession of aerial photographs showing that the Beckhams have built a private chapel for the occasion with white angel above the arched doorway and decorated with fake ruins. Other reports say the chapel has a Buddhist shrine at the entrance, which complies well with Davids famous comment about his son Brooklyn: I definitely want him to be christened, but I dont know into what religion yet.
The ceremony is reported to be costing $900,000 with VIP’s like Elton John, Liz Hurley, Tom Cruise and former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm among the guests. The couple’s close friend Elton John and his partner David Furnish will be the godfathers for the Beckham boys.
The christening was to be followed by a reception, a six-course dinner followed by speeches, performances and disco. As reports Reuters, Victoria, who is pregnant with her third child and feeling insecure about her figure, has asked female guests to appear in “modest attire,” meaning no cleavage is allowed.
“The last thing she would want is some of her more glamorous friends appearing dolled up to the nines.” The Daily Mail quotes one of the guests as saying.
Posh will be wearing a D&G gown created especially for her.
