"Project Runway 2", the second season of Bravo's reality TV show dedicated to discovering new fashion-design talent, is to air later this year. Only a month ago the future of the Heidi Klum-hosted competition series was unclear, but the show's producer Miramax Television seems to have solved the problems.
According to Variety, Bravo intends to air “Project Runway 2 as early as the third quarter of this year. However, the exact premiere date of the show, which averaged over two million viewers for its February finale, has not been yet announced.
"It is our heartfelt intent to be able to go to season two. But nothing is a given,"Bravo president Lauren Zalaznick told the paper. "I'm hoping to launch as soon as possible, but we're going to take the time we need to get it right.”
"It's difficult when you get lightning in a bottle the first time. The challenges were great, but the chemistry of that first group was phenomenal," Zalaznick explained. "We're debating what we keep the same and what we change up."
The series features competitions between aspiring fashion designers and has been getting the highest numbers for any Bravo telecast during the 2004-2005 season, increasing its audience 500 percent since its premiere in December.
"'Project Runway' is in the cross hairs of Bravo's programming mandate--to give viewers a unique, behind the scenes perspective into the creative process of an integral part of pop culture," said Zalaznick according to mediaweek.com
"Miramax (the production partner) is the absolute best television partner on this series that we could hope to have for this second season, and many more to come."US"
“It’s been great discovering new talent and giving viewers the chance to have an inside look into the exciting world of fashion,” says Miramax Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein according to timesleader.com. “We’re looking forward to another successful season of ‘Project Runway’ with Bravo and Heidi Klum.”
