Twenty contestants will converge in the resort town of Victoria Falls to take part in the 11th Supermodel contest on December 11, reports All Africa. The Supermodel show, one of the glamorous events on the Zimbabwean entertainment calendar, has introduced many aspiring models to the international scene of modeling and vogue.
The annual event provides a unique opportunity for male and female catwalk star wannabes to step onto the lucrative international modeling arena with Mr and Miss Supermodel titles and a three-year contract with G3, one of the leading modeling agencies in South Africa.
According to the source, this years show promises to be bigger and more exciting with the introduction of the best male face category supported by Prochem, a cosmetic-manufacturing company which has already started giving contestants facial and skin care treatments.
This time the judging panel decided to introduce a screening session instead of the traditional semi-finals. More that 40 girls and 20 young men were selected from the castings and then screened to make up 20 finalists, competing for the two titles.
Although preparations are still in the preliminary stage, it was said that three internationally-acclaimed modeling judges from the Ford Modeling Agency in the United States are expected to be the special members of the judging panel captained by Jan Milan of Face Of Africa.
Zimsun Leisure group and Air Zimbabwe are the main sponsors of the modelling showcase.
Molyn Nkomo, the marketing manager for Zimsun Leisure group said: We are excited once again to embark on a quest to discover who the next two Supermodels are, who will carry the Zimbabwean flag high and do us proud.
