14-year-old Daphne Galvan was proclaimed Supermodel of the Philippines 2004 last Saturday in the Finals Night at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila, reports The Manila Times. Though only 57 tall, the charming teenager has the much sought-after Asian features, slim figure and a graceful step. The winner of the crown, who has beaten nine other finalists, also won the photogenic competition.
In modeling, the younger you are, the better your edge, said Event Marketing Officer Gerard Castillo, commenting on the tender age of Galvan. Modeling agencies prefer to hone younger talents because it would ensure a longer, more experienced modeling career and a more solid reputation.
Judges of the 6th Ford Models Supermodel of the Philippines competition were Runway Productions executive producer Audie A. Espino, executive producer and director Joey A. Espino Jr. and Susan Quillin, Fords worldwide scouting director.
Galvan will be competing with over 50 aspiring fashion models from the world this January in New York.
